Telephone registrations are not encouraged! If necessary, however, please call Rhonda Morgan at 436-1010, Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
Cancellations:
Courses are sometimes cancelled a week ahead of their announced beginning because not enough people have signed up. So please sign up early.
Filled Classes:
Some courses reach their maximum enrollment before classes begin, thus enrollments in these cases cannot be accepted during the first class so please sign up early.
Eligibility:
Classes are open to those eligible as stated in the course description. “Adults” refers to persons beyond normal high school age. Only participants will be allowed in the classroom unless emergency prior arrangements have been made with the instructor.
Fees:
Course fees are determined by the expense of advertising for and operating the course. Fees are due before the first class and should not be handled by the instructor except in emergencies. Prorating is frowned upon; however, it is at the discretion of the instructor. Checks should be made payable to: IRSD, Adult Ed. Persons paying cash will be issued a receipt upon request, and persons paying by check will have their cancelled check as their receipt. The walk-in fee is $4.00 per class.
Refunds:
No refunds will be granted after the first class unless it has been cancelled. This policy applies to classes, the pool and the fitness center. Participants should understand that instructors and lifeguards are hired based on the number of registrations.
Class Confirmation:
Confirmations are not made. Registrants are only notified if courses are cancelled.
School Closing:
No classes are held when the Indian River School District schools have been closed. Weather cancellations pertaining to school closings will be announced on local radio channels.
Building Usage:
Activities which are directly school-related have top priority for the use of the schools’ facilities. However, classes listed in this brochure have been scheduled and will meet accordingly as advertised. Under unusual circumstances it may be necessary to cancel a class or move to a different location/time due to a conflict with a school-related activity. It is the intent of the Board of Education of the Indian River School District to make the school facilities available to outside organizations at a reasonable cost consistent with established guidelines.
NOTICE:
It is the policy of the Indian River School District that no person be subjected to discrimination on the basis of race, color, creed, sex, national origin, handicap, age within statutory limits, religion, domicile or marital status. This policy is based on regulations contained in Title IX of the Educational Amendments of 1972, Department of Health, Education and Welfare. All questions regarding this matter should be directed to the Superintendent of the Indian River School District. For Sports courses involving students a PARENT PERMISSION AND CERTIFICATION OF ACCIDENT AND HEALTH INSURANCE FORM must be signed and delivered to the Adult Education office before the students may participate. BLUE CROSS/BLUE SHIELD or the STUDENT ACCIDENT PLAN offered through the school district are examples of acceptable coverage. THE FORM IS PRINTED IN THIS BROCHURE ON THE BACK OF THE REGISTRATION FORM.
